A hardy perennial herb with stunning pink flowers and soft aromatic leaves. The name Monarda honours the Spanish medical botanist Dr. Nicholas Monardes of Seville who wrote 'A herbal on the Flora of America' in 1569. It was used by the Oswego Indians to treat colds and bronchial problems. It is used internally for colds, catarrh, headaches, fevers and gastric disorders and can be used to flavour meat and beans.
