A hardy perennial with clusters of pink flowers which attract butterflies and bees, it is native to the UK and is found growing in moist fields and open woods. It is used to treat cystitis and liver and gall bladder infections It was grown in Physic gardens, monastery gardens and around churches as it was thought to protect against evil and witchcraft.
