A perennial that originates from Southern Europe that doesn't produce viable seed in our climate. It has a rich warm aniseed taste which quickly diffuses through other ingredients. Rich in iodine, mineral salts and vitamins A and C. It combines well with chicken, fish, salads, light soups, eggs, avocado, stuffing's and herb butters. As it doesn't like heavy wet soils during the winter it is often best grown in a pot and placed in a sheltered position.
