Also known as knotted marjoram because of the unusual knobbly flower spikes. It is a very fragrant herb with overtones of sweet pine and citrus and is an important culinary herb in other parts of the world, particularly with meat, pasta and creamy dishes. The flowers are used medicinally for gastrointestinal disorders and to aid digestion. It is a completely tender herb and doesn’t grow in the UK until we have some warm weather.
