This pungently scented herb grows best in full sun and certainly it requires the midday and afternoon sun to grow well. Grown In the ground, like other plants it needs watering until established and after that it can be left to get on with it. It does like to have a well-drained soil, especially in winter, but I grow it south facing, in a heavy clay soil and it copes just fine. Rosemary doesn’t want to be cut back into the old wood, but regular pruning of the tips keeps in nice and bushy.
The fresh root of horseradish initially used as a medicine and then made more famous mixed with vinegar as a condiment with rich meat or fish.
It is hot, biting and pungent and it stimulates the circulation whether taken internally or externally.
Fire vinegar is an old recipe that combines immune boosting herbs in a vinegar infusion that also benefits the digestion with its bitter ingredients.
The root can be infused in oil and applied externally to inflammed joints to increase the circulation.Whether for cooking or medicine use the fresh or dried leaf.
A herb for remembrance, this plant has long been used to remember and honour loved ones.
