Known also as ‘lions tail’ because of the flowering spikes, motherwort has a long history as a heart tonic and for treating a range of gynaecological problems and was also was traditionally used to treat nervous afflictions such as anxiety, depression and stress. It is a pretty herb to grow with long flowering stems full of pink flowers which attract bees and pollinating insects.

Traditionally used to as a relaxing tonic for anxiety, to calm heart palpitations and to ease menopausal related hot flushes and night sweats.
